Sprinkle a light layer of flour or talcum powder along a wall where you've seen droppings. Check it 24 hours later. Fresh tracks or drag marks mean active. Nothing for three consecutive nights, in combination with no new droppings, means the population is knocked back — but seal before you declare victory.

Do ultrasonic repellers work on rats?

No. Every peer-reviewed study on ultrasonic repellers shows either no effect or a very short-lived effect as rats habituate. Save the money and put it toward hardware-cloth exclusion, which does work.

How much does professional rat control cost?

Can I use poison outdoors instead of hiring a pro?
